A page crammed with six feature sections, three testimonial styles, two pricing callouts, and a chatbot popup isn't communicating more. It's communicating less - because none of the signals can break through the interference.
The Von Restorff Effect tells us that an item stands out only when it differs from its surroundings. If everything on your page is bold, colorful, and animated, nothing is. The brain skips over uniform stimulation. It's looking for contrast, not volume.

A landing page should give a visitor just enough to want to know more - not everything they might ever want to know. Each section should close one loop and open a smaller one, pulling the visitor through the page rather than exhausting them on it.
This is the structural logic behind a well-sequenced SaaS page: hero → problem → mechanism → proof → CTA. Each layer deepens engagement. The visitor is never sated. They're always one section from knowing enough to act.

1. Multiple Primary CTAs

When a visitor reads a headline they don't immediately understand, their working memory has to do translation work. That work consumes the cognitive budget they would otherwise spend on forming intent.

Test your headline with the five-second rule: show it to someone outside your industry for five seconds, then ask them what the product does. If they can't answer, the headline is producing friction, not conversion.
3. Inconsistent Visual Rhythm
Visual rhythm refers to the predictable spacing, sizing, and alignment patterns that allow a viewer's eye to move through a page without effort. When rhythm breaks — a misaligned section, an inconsistent font scale, a CTA button that's a different size in each section — the brain registers the anomaly and spends processing cycles resolving it.
This is not a trivial aesthetic concern. Every unresolved visual anomaly is a tax on working memory. Enough of them, and the cognitive budget runs out before the visitor reaches the conversion point.
